Faculty
Over half of the faculty in the School of Business and Economics has received prestigious Outstanding Faculty awards at Lambuth. They work hard to make their classes reflect real world experiences. One faculty member, whose specialty is taxation and who is an enrolled agent with the IRS, initiated the VITA (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) internship, a program in which Lambuth students donate their time and talents to file tax returns for local citizens. Another faculty member has published in the areas of demography and macroeconomics and has reviewed journal articles for the Journal of Developing Areas and also for the Midwestern Business and Economic Review; one professor has published widely in the areas of human resource and organizational behavior. Having lived in Belgium, the faculty with the most expertise in international business is also the advisor for the Lambuth chapter of Delta Mu Delta, an international honor society for business students; and she also operates a small law practice. Faculty members in the area of computer information systems make numerous contributions to both local and regional businesses, and one professor has written software for Oracle. In addition, he has spent time working on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Serving in various offices of the Southeastern Council of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, one professor is a trained evaluator for the Association of College Schools and Programs, an accrediting organization that focuses on outstanding teaching. He has also published case studies for companies like Kirkland’s, Porter Cable, Applebee’s and Build-a-Bear. Academically, faculty from the School of Business and Economics truly live their slogan “Where Theory Meets the Real World.”
