Information for International Students

International students should report to the Director of International Affairs immediately upon arrival at Lambuth University. This office is located in Room 114 of Hyde Hall. The Director of International Affairs will aid in insuring that all immigration papers are properly signed and all other matters properly attended.

International students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of campus life. The Student Development staff will endeavors to ease the transition from one culture to another and to provide other assistance as necessary in helping international students adjust to their new environment.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Program:

Unlike many other universities its size, Lambuth University offers several ESL courses for its international students. During the fall and spring semesters, courses in reading, writing, grammar, and conversation are offered. These courses are designed to prepare international students for success in the university academic setting. Classes are usually small with a maximum of ten to twelve students and allow students to receive
individualized attention.

Admission Requirements for International Students:

For regular admission to the freshman class, Lambuth requires:

Graduation from an approved secondary school
20 ACT (SAT 930, recentered)
425 TOEFL
or 60 Michigan Placement Test
2.0 overall G.P.A.

Admissions Procedure for International Students:

  1. Obtain a foreign student application form from the Office of Admissions.
  2. Complete the application form and return it with a $25.00 non-refundable application fee.
  3. Submit official transcripts of all secondary academic work, translated into English.
  4. Have your test scores from the TOEFL, ACT, SAT, or Michigan Placement Test sent to Lambuth.
  5. Submit official bank statement verifying financial resources for one full year's expenses at Lambuth University.

Form I-20 and Visa Procedure:

An I-20 form (Certificates of Eligibility for F-1 Visa) will be issued to international students that have been accepted by Lambuth University. The student is responsible for using the I-20 form to apply for the F-1 student visa at a U.S. Embassy in his/her country.

Scholarships for International Students:

International students may apply for a Merit Scholarship. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, a student must take the ACT or SAT in English, submit the score to the Lambuth Admissions Office and submit official transcripts.

The following figures are an estimate of the minimum costs for an international student who lives and dines on campus for the 2004-2005 academic year. The list below DOES NOT include travel or vacation expenses.

**International students are required to provide proof of health insurance coverage before enrolling in classes. A policy is available through the university at the rates given above. If a student is covered by another policy, the student will need to show proof of the dates of coverage to the international student advisor before enrolling in classes.
