Lambuth Founding Member
of National Consortium for Tuition Affordability

Lambuth University was among the founding members of Independent 529, a plan designed to help make private college more accessible and affordable for families. Among the institutions in Tennessee who are part of the consortium with Lambuth are Rhodes College, University of the South, and Vanderbilt University. The
consortium now has more than 200 independent university members across the country. As a founding member, Lambuth was among the first in helping create this forward-thinking cost-containment option for families.
"We see this new plan as part of our ongoing effort to make quality higher education accessible to more families," says Lambuth University President Dr. R. Fred Zuker.
In a nutshell, Independent 529 gives families a
way to prepay college tuition at today’s lower prices
for students who will be attending college in the future. Regardless of tuition increases over time, Independent 529 participants have a guaranteed tuition rate set at the time they begin the plan ... a
rate that is actually lower than full tuition cost at the time of starting
the plan.
The Independent 529 plan represents a way for parents, grandparents, and other relatives to contribute to and pay for a child’s private college education without worrying about investment risk or tuition inflation.
Currently, independent universities from 38 different states have joined the plan.
