The college years are a period of growth and enlightenment in a student's academic, social and spiritual life. Lambuth University offers students, faculty, and staff a wide array of opportunities for religious and spiritual development and maturity.
The Religious Life Council oversees a majority of the religious life programming. The RLC is an organization made up of student representatives from various areas of campus and is advised by the chaplain. Activities and programs available include:
Chapel Services are held every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the R.E. Womack Chapel. Although services do not have mandatory attendance, classes are not scheduled over this time so as to provide the option of attendance. The first service of the month is a formal service with communion. Subsequent chapels are relaxed and informal. Organizations, departments, and students are responsible for developing and leading the weekly services.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is open to all Lambuth students, not just athletes. It hosts a diverse cross section of eagerly involved Christians. FCA meets every Thursday night at 9:00 in the chapel for a time of fellowship through praise songs, skits, games, and student speakers or special guests.
Phi Sigma Eta is a Christian sorority that offers girls the possibility to gather in sisterhood and Christian love. Among their many worthwhile contributions are their hours of volunteer service in the community.
The Pre-Ministerial Group is comprised of individuals who feel God is calling them into some form of ministry and might want to explore a church related career. They represent many different majors, backgrounds, and aspirations yet, are united by the commonality of striving to do God's work.
Fellowship Activities are times of informal gathering to share and relax together and take a brief hiatus from tumultuous college life. The newly organized Alternative Spring Break gives students and faculty the chance to partake in a weeklong mission trip to a needful are of the state or country.
Small Group Studies provide the opportunity for students and faculty to meet in a smaller, more familiar setting to explore personal spiritual growth and partake in religious or Biblical study. These small groups are led by students, faculty, or staff and include: Bible Studies, Companions in Christ, Discipleship/Accountability Groups, etc.
Other Religious Life Opportunities:
The Jane Hyde Scott Center For Christian Studies is designed to assist churches in meeting their spiritual and educational needs, the center provides a variety of programs for clergy and laity.
Bishop's Scholars are pre-ministerial students who demonstrate a call into professional ministry in the United Methodist Church. Each year, two full-tuition scholarships are awarded to applicants who meet the criteria and have been recommended by a Review Committee designated by the university.
