Support Lambuth

cheerleaders06For more than 160 years, Lambuth University has shared with its students an educational mission that focuses on personal excellence within a challenging learning community and supportive Christian-centered environment. Lambuth continues to build on its strengths — tradition, mission and curriculum — to provide the level of education excellence associated with its name. That excellence, supported by the liberal arts and Methodist philosophies to educate the whole person for life-long learning, leadership and service, makes Lambuth unique.

When you think of Lambuth, you probably think of the students and dedicated professors. However, there are many individuals who make the University successful whom you might never see on campus. This is the case for many caring people who make generous gifts to Lambuth University.

Whether you are an alum, parent, friend, church, foundation or corporation, you can become an important part of Lambuth’s future. This site is dedicated to providing information for you to use in supporting the University’s mission.

The Lambuth University Alumni Website is temporarily under construction. To make a donation to Lambuth, please contact Aletza Boucher at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or (731) 425-3203.

Annual Fund

The Lambuth Annual Fund lies in the heart of the Lambuth experience. The Annual Fund allows alumni, friends, parents, churches, corporations and foundations to make an annual contribution to the University and to make the dreams of a student come true. The Annual Fund provides both scholarship and financial aid support to the students. The University provides over $5 million in scholarships to over 94 percent of the student body. The need for more scholarship assistance grows every year. A gift to the Annual Fund touches the lives of Lambuth's students and provides them with their access to excellence.

Endowed Scholarship

An endowed scholarship generates earnings year after year, ensuring that the on-going financial support of the scholarship will be sustained at Lambuth University. Endowed funds pay an everlasting and meaningful tribute to their namesakes. Many alumni and friends have contributed funds created in memory of professors that have touched their lives. You can also honor friends and family through endowed funds.

In order to establish an endowed scholarship, a minimal gift of $10,000 is needed to establish the scholarship. Please contact the Development Office if you, your family or your organization is interested in establishing an endowed scholarship.

For any questions or additional information on establishing an endowed scholarship, contact Lambuth University Development Office, 705 Lambuth Blvd., Jackson, Tenn. 38301; phone number: 731-425-3241.

Planned Gifts

In certain instances, it may be preferable from an estate or financial and tax-planning perspective to consider long-term planned giving as the best way to make a gift. This can be accomplished through various gift instruments, such as charitable remainder trusts, life insurance, charitable lead trusts and bequests. Planned gifts to the University are recognized by two societies: Lambuth University Legacy Society or Lambda-Eta Sigma Society.

The Lambuth University Legacy Society
The Lambuth Legacy Society is a very special group of alumni and friends who have provided for the University in their estate plans through wills, trusts or life insurance. These gifts help to ensure that future generations of Lambuth students will receive an outstanding liberal arts and Christian-centered education. Lambuth Legacy Society members are recognized by the University on a membership roll and are invited to attend special events, luncheons and receptions.

Lambda-Eta Sigma Society
The Lambda-Eta Sigma Society is a very special group of alumni and friends who have provided for Lambuth through a planned gift. This leadership endowment society recognizes an individual or individuals that have donated money to a planned gift or have endowed a scholarship with the University. These gifts help to ensure that future generations of Lambuth students will receive an outstanding liberal arts and Christian-centered education. The Lambda-Eta Legacy Society members are recognized by the University on a membership roll and are invited to attend special events, luncheons and receptions.

Capital Gifts – Foundation for the Future

Lambuth University makes every effort to provide outstanding facilities that greatly enhance the educational experience. We welcome those who wish to partner with Lambuth in this endeavor through capital gifts.

The Campaign for Lambuth: Foundation for the Future
In June 2006, the Board of Trustees approved a strategic long-range plan that provides our "Foundation for the Future." The strategic plan is realistic and ambitious with qualitative improvement throughout the University as its goal.

To ensure Lambuth's place among the South's best college and universities, a capital campaign titled "Foundation for the Future: Campaign For Lambuth" was established with a preliminary goal of $20 million in order to reach its objectives.

It's my home ... the place I love.
Ms. Susan Hudacek '72, Professor of English

“Attending Lambuth was life-changing for me. My teachers here - intelligent, enthusiastic, caring people - loved their jobs and loved and guided me. Every day I think of them and of their profound influence. Not only did they teach me to think, but more importantly, they challenged and inspired me. They changed my world.

Giving to Lambuth means honoring the past, the rich traditions of our school and investing in the future. Giving to Lambuth means returning a portion of what others gave to us as students, to continue to change lives, to continue to change the world.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

Renovations - Hyde Hall: $1.1 million

Hyde Hall, which houses the Sciences, was constructed and equipped with the assistance of a National Science Foundation grant in 1967. Since then, there have been no significant additions or improvements to the equipment or facilities. If Lambuth is to continue to adequately educate students for careers in medicine, the allied health fields and natural sciences, new equipment and the renovation of Hyde Hall will be essential to our success.

Lambuth is a family tradition for me.
Mr. James Parker '72, Tennis Coach

“Lambuth is a family tradition for me. It is something that has become a vital and special part of all of us. For me to have the opportunity to come back and work at Lambuth now gives me the chance to contribute to Lambuth's future. Lambuth has touched so many lives throughout its existence, and with your help, we hope to touch many more in the future. Your support will help ensure that.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

Four Residence Halls: $2 million

Where students live is of great importance on a residential campus. Student satisfaction correlates closely to the quality of our residence halls. It is essential that every residence hall provide outstanding living conditions. That means individual rooms must be attractively furnished and conducive to the needs of study and that comfortable spaces be available for meetings, discussion groups and social gatherings. Each of the four residence halls is in need of major refurbishment. The campaign will enable the University to upgrade the quality of the furnishings, rooms and lobbies in the residence halls.

I can't think of a place I'd rather be.
Dr. Cheryl Bowers '91, Professor of Psychology

“It isn't money that draws our faculty to Lambuth. We're here for the Lambuth experience. It's a unique and special thing, and it gives me such joy to come to work here every day.

You are all part of the Lambuth family, the thing that makes Lambuth so special. We ask for your continued support in order that our children have the opportunity to experience Lambuth, too.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

Current Operations: $4.5 million

Gifts to support current operations are one of the three major revenue sources for the University's operating budget and a critical component of enabling the University to operate on a balanced budget. Along with tuition revenue and income from endowment, these gifts help to underwrite the budget for          un-funded scholarships. Unrestricted gifts for current operations and gifts to the Loyalty Fund are essential for Lambuth to improve its day-to-day operations.

Lambuth is the epicenter of my life.
Dr. Larry Ray '64, Professor of Art, Chair

“For 165 years, Lambuth graduates have been challenged as they receive their diploma to "Go forth in service to God and man." Think of the gift Lambuth has given the world as a result. Now, your gift can help that challenge endure.

Lambuth has been the epicenter of my life as a student, professor and administrator. It has brought professional and spiritual challenges, growth and much love and joy.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

Faculty/Staff Enhancement: $900,000

What is a Liberal Arts institution without a scholarly and competent Faculty dedicated to the teaching/learning process? Lambuth has a long tradition of outstanding teaching. Over 75 percent of the faculty hold the highest degree in their disciplines, and they are cited regularly for their enthusiasm, quality instruction and for making material come alive. Students consider their professors and staff members as mentors, role models, advisers and friends. However, in the area of compensation, Lambuth has not maintained a competitive program. Lambuth seeks to expand initiatives to attract, retain, renew and reward outstanding faculty and staff members.

Lambuth filled me in so many ways.
Dr. Joy Austin '74, Professor of English

“When I came to Lambuth, I was a seventeen-year-old vessel, just waiting to be filled. Lambuth filled me in so many ways. Feeding both my intellect and my spirit, Lambuth literally gave me a promise, a path and a purpose.

It's important to give back. It is through Lambuth's continual giving to me that I am empowered today to try to be like those who began filling me so many years ago. Lambuth is worthy, and I am honored each day as I walk across this most beautiful campus or as I step into the very classroom where my own journey began. I need Lambuth, and Lambuth needs all of us.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

Scholarships & Financial Aid: $6 million

Historically, Lambuth has viewed access as a critical part of its mission - making a Lambuth education affordable to students able to succeed at the University. With more than 90 percent of Lambuth students receiving scholarships or financial aid, the institutional commitment to fund scholarships is very important. The campaign will seek $6 million in funds to continue to attract and retain qualified students in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Lambuth Prepared Me For Success
Mr. Mark Doran '87, Professor of Computer Information Systems

“Lambuth gave me a broad education that I’ve been able to use in a variety of fields. It prepared me for success. Coming back to Lambuth now gives me the opportunity to help prepare the next generation. It’s a wonderful and fulfilling experience to be an integral part of the Lambuth traditions of excellence and service.

I contributed to the Campaign because I am here every day and see the need first hand.

I've made a commitment to Lambuth.”

To Endow The Future: $1 million

The size of a University's endowment determines whether its achievements are ordinary or distinguished. The stronger the endowment, the more a University can do to enrich its offerings. Along with tuition and fees, the endowment should be the most significant and reliable contributor to the annual operations of the University. Lambuth has done a remarkable job in recruiting students and producing a quality educational experience that is competitive with other premiere Southern liberal arts institutions. In order to provide increased educational opportunities for students and to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, the campaign will raise $1 million in gifts designated for the endowment.

Add your face to the campaign.
Dr. R. Fred Zuker, Former President

“Our faculty, staff and our Board of Trustees have all made their commitment to the Campaign, together raising fully 25 percent of our Campaign goal.

I now ask for your support - your commitment to complete the task.

The essence of this campaign is about honor and pride. Was there value in what was given to you here ... the extra time your professors willingly donated, the lifelong friendships you made and the unique educational experience you received at Lambuth?

Did it further your life? Do you honor that effort and take pride in the result?

If so, I ask you to consider making a three-year commitment to the Annual Fund. Your contribution to Lambuth's Annual Fund counts toward our campaign goal and is essential to our success. The time to act is now. The decision is yours - because you are Lambuth, and at this moment, you hold its future in your hands

With your help, the lamp that is Lambuth will continue to shine for generations to come.

God Bless You.”
