“We are really excited to bring Dr. Israel on board at Lambuth,” said Dr. Charles Mayo, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the University. “His background and expertise will be very beneficial to our university and its future.”

Dr. Israel was on campus Thursday to meet with faculty and staff members and attend the board meeting Friday before heading back to his home in Fort Myers, Fla. He will assume the duties of president beginning Dec. 1, 2008.

“After spending time on Lambuth’s campus and meeting with several faculty and staff, I already have a good sense of the strong passion and dedication that is present for the Institution,” said Israel. “I look forward to helping provide the University with leadership and direction as we move forward.”

The Board of Trustees also discussed new program opportunities, such as online courses, a healthcare professionals program and other new opportunities.

“Our students deserve our continued focus on providing them the absolute best academic programs that can be delivered in a variety of ways,” said Dr. Mary Cay Koen, chairperson of the board. “Lambuth and its board are fully committed to seeing the university not only succeed but flourish in the 21st century version of a liberal arts church-based institution.”

“It is clear that the Lambuth family has the initiative to guide the University to a successful future,” said Israel. “The students, faculty and staff here are thriving, and I am proud to be able to play part in shaping the institution’s future at this time.”
