LAMBUTH UNIVERSITY TRUMPETS NEW VICE PRESIDENT APPOINTMENT

Jackson, Tennessee, July 12, 2010:

Lambuth University professor of music, Dr. Lee Weimer, has been appointed Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs effective July 6, 2010. He will assume duties from Dan Ashton, who is stepping down to continue teaching full-time at Lambuth University this Fall.

"Dan has been an outstanding campus leader in the life of our campus," says Dr. Bill Seymour, President of Lambuth University, "His steady, honest and faithful presence has been a comfort to us all and inspiration to never give up."

"I have been heartened by the support of our Lambuth family as well as the greater Jackson and West Tennessee communities. I hope to establish even stronger ties with these groups and reach farther afield as we grow and prosper," Weimer says of the opportunity to serve the school as VP._lee-wiemer-2

"Lee has been an outstanding faculty member and demonstrated to me that he has the knowledge, skills and attitude to take on this new role with enthusiasm and effectiveness," Dr. Seymour said in a statement released to employees this week.

Weimer has been at Lambuth University since 2001. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Minnesota, and his doctorate from the University of Memphis.

Weimer is a member of numerous organizations such as the Jackson Symphony, the International Trumpet Guild, and the College Music Society. He also conducts brass and trumpet ensembles, when not teaching music in the classrooms at Lambuth University.
